This Bank Data Status Page Shows:
- How many banks have filed their quarterly call reports.
- When the CSBS Analytics platform was last refreshed.
- The current “completeness” of the two data sources that power CSBS bank financial analysis tools (FFIEC and FDIC).
- A mapping of analytics products to data source (see one page product inventory below).
- A way for users to identify possible shortcomings of the preliminary data during filing season when CSBS uploads preliminary (and possibly incomplete) data for banks that have filed their call report so far (e.g. if the “UBPR” and “Call Report” bank counts do not match for a certain data source – users should be aware that the data for banks who have submitted might be missing some specific sections and columns). These instances when bank counts don’t match are not necessarily driven by banks submitting incomplete data but rather by the lag that exists between processing systems from time to time.
Submissions Over Time:
Note: Submissions are captured daily. The bank count shown on the platform will match the table above as we quality-check reports while data flows in.

What happens during filing month – are preliminary data available for banks who have submitted their call reports?
- During filing month (January/April/July/October), the team pulls in data weekly from the FFIEC via API.
- The “FFIEC API (Preliminary)” line item represents how many banks have filed their Call Report as of the last run time.
- The Analytics Platform will be updated with new data on Wednesdays with banks that had filed by the Monday before.
- The cadence is driven by the time it takes to pull, check, and upload data. The team pulls data on Mondays, runs quality checks, and then makes the data available on Wednesdays.
- After complete data have been released (55-75 days after close of quarter) CSBS no longer performs weekly refreshes, so call reports refilled after that window will not be picked up until the next quarters data refresh.
What happens after the filing deadline when complete data sets are released?
- Approximately two weeks after filing month ends, the team pulls in the FFIEC bulk download (aka the complete FFIEC dataset for all banks, issued once a quarter).
- You can see the status of this data source in the second row labeled FFIEC Bulk.
- If the “FFIEC Bulk” data source is reported as “NA” – all quarterly data on the CSBS Bank Analytics platform should be considered tentative and preliminary.
How do I know everything is ready with new data?
- Once CSBS sends out the Data Digest mailing – users can consider all tools, reports, and dashboards updated with complete quarterly data. Using tools before data digest could lead to an incomplete view of the data.
- While the team runs quality checks on the preliminary weekly data during filing season, they are limited in scope. The team performs a more extensive set of quality checks before the Data Digest is issued. Quarterly prompts on tools won’t be updated until the Data Digest is issued.
- To sign up for the data digest distribution list visit our ERSW page and fill out the short form at the bottom of the page.
